Making a difference?

Thinking of the referrals that have been made in your district, can you give 1 or 2 of your best examples of where the referral has made a genuine difference? (provide de-identified examples)

  • We have had many instances at the VPU (Vulnerable Persons Unit) whereby Aggrieved’s have been referred through the Police Referral systems to DV Support.  Through the integrated response from DV Services and the VPU, many aggrieved’s have been removed to places of safety, received counselling and support to leave unhealthy relationships.

How is the Service making a difference?

  • Making it easier for vulnerable people to be connected with services within the community who can provide assistance and support.

What Referrals categories are most common in your District?

  • Domestic Violence and Personal Counselling

Thinking about the future

What is your goal in Police Referrals?

  • To ensure as many quality services are in place to assist officers in my district to refer clients to the right support services.

Where would you like to see Police Referrals in the next 5 – 10 years?

  • I would like to see the program expanded and more referral options available.
